Zinc’s Teen Literary Journal: Now Accepting Submissions!

At Zinc, we've found that students LOVE reading what other students have to say. In fact, student-written articles are among our most popular student picks! Filament is Zinc's all-teen literary journal, featuring writing and visual art by students all over the world. You can also check out the "Filament" channel on our Articles page.

We're now accepting submissions for Issue 6! We’re looking for standout student-written poetry, fiction, essays, and visual art. This season, students can also submit to our World Mythology Contest. Students can interpret “mythology” in any way they choose—they may want to retell a traditional tale with a contemporary twist, personify a natural element, or invent a god, hero, or myth of their own. All published contributors receive a $25 gift card to Bookshop.org, and one Contest winner will receive a $100 gift card.

How to submit:

  • Be sure to review the submission guidelines

  • Email work to submissions@zinclearninglabs.com

  • Open to all current middle and high school students ages 13+

  • Students can submit:

    • one prose piece of up to 1200 words

    • three visual art pieces

    • up to 3 poems

  • Deadline: February 1, 2024
